LAKES ENTRANCE → BRUTHEN

36km of forest trails, quiet country roads and gentle Rail Trail riding
Ride & Pick Up: $85 per person
Includes 5 hours of self-guided bike hire and shuttle return to Lakes Entrance.

Self-Guided Ride LAKES ENTRANCE TO BRUTHEN

After an 8km ride uphill and onto an easy country road, your self-guided forest trail adventure begins on the Gippsland Lakes Discovery Track. This trail follows and criss-crosses Mississippi Creek, winding through lush ferns and pockets of old-growth forest. Pause at The Quarry for a break — the historic mine site where the original rocks were quarried to keep the Entrance of the Gippsland Lakes open.

The track is mostly shaded with compact gravel and only a few short hills in the final kilometres before you reach the Rail Trail. At the Rail Trail, turn left for a relaxed 12km roll into the township of Bruthen, a beautiful village set in a scenic valley and home to the Bruthen Brewery, the Bruthen Bizarre, and the Tambo River. This section is a long, gentle, mainly downhill ride on double track, perfect for riding side by side with friends.

This is one of our most popular rides, especially when paired with a lunch at the Bullant Brewery to finish. The brewery is usually open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch, but it’s best to check their operating hours or availability before booking so you can schedule in some local beers to celebrate your ride.

LAKES ENTRANCE → METUNG

20km on calm roads and waterfront paths.
Ride & Pick Up: $75 per person
Includes 4 hours of self-guided bike hire and shuttle return to Lakes Entrance.

Self-Guided Ride LAKES ENTRANCE TO METUNG

To Ride & Dine, we recommend booking ahead at The Metung Hotel or The Local to enjoy great food with beautiful views before your shuttle returns you to Lakes Entrance.

If 20km on sealed roads is more your style, ride from Lakes Entrance to the beautiful village of Metung. Start by swinging past Kalimna Jetty on your way out of town — it’s some of the best waterfront riding around. From there, follow the shoulder of the Princes Hwy for a few kilometres before turning left onto Kalimna West Rd, which leads down to historic Nyerimilang, a stunning old property with magnificent clifftop views over the Gippsland Lakes. Selfie break!

Cruise through undulating farmland while pondering your retirement plans. Pause at Nungurner Jetty Rd for an optional 4.5km loop down to the picturesque jetty, passing local art studios and galleries along the way.

Continue along Nungurner Rd, turning left down Rosherville Rd, past Chinamans Creek. Dream of future yachting adventures as you roll past the boats and arrive in Metung in time for a delicious lunch. The Metung Hotel is famous for the best dining views in town, and we highly rate the wood-fired pizzas from The Local.

Enjoy this peaceful waterfront village before your return shuttle to Lakes Entrance.
